Högfjället is nestled in a spectacular mountain landscape that offers breathtaking views and unforgettable nature experiences. Högfjället is ideal for families looking for a peaceful and harmonious skiing holiday. At the heart of the area is the historic Högfjällshotellet, an iconic building dating back to the 1930s. The hotel is a natural centre with several restaurants, bars and a popular après-ski. Tandådalen boasts a varied selection of slopes ranging from green beginner slopes to demanding black runs. The area is particularly known for its off-piste opportunities, especially in the legendary ”Väggen” area. A major advantage of Tandådalen is the connection with Hundfjället via lift, which gives access to an even larger ski area. Together, the two areas offer 54 runs and 36 lifts, creating an impressive variety for several days of intense skiing without having to repeat the same slopes.

Tandådalen SuperPark is one of Sweden's most extensive and professionally designed snowparks. It offers challenges for freestylers of all levels, from beginners to advanced. The park contains an impressive range of jumps, rails and other features that are continuously updated during the season to keep the challenge fresh.

After an intense day on the slopes, you can enjoy Tandådalen's famous après-ski with a lively atmosphere and often live music. Hundfjället impresses with its range of well-groomed slopes and varied terrain suitable for all types of skiers. From beginners to experts, there are slopes that both challenge and inspire. The longest slope stretches over 1200 metres and offers a wonderful skiing experience with beautiful views of the mountains.

Trollskogen is Hundfjället's unique children's area where skiing meets fairytale world. Here, children ski between colourful trolls and other fantasy characters in an enchanting environment that stimulates the imagination. The customised slopes and playful atmosphere make learning both fun and effective, creating memorable experiences for the youngest skiers.

For the adventurous, Hundfjället offers ”Väggen”, one of Sälen's most challenging slopes. This black piste with its steep gradient tests the ability of even experienced skiers and provides a real adrenaline rush. Mastering the Wall is something of a status symbol among ski enthusiasts who visit Sälen.

Kläppen offers skiing for all levels with well-prepared slopes and varied terrain. The majority of the slopes are green and blue, making the area ideal for beginners and intermediate skiers, but there are also challenging red and black runs for the more experienced. The longest run is an impressive 3000 metres, providing long, enjoyable runs through beautiful mountain scenery.

Kläppen boasts four different snowparks that are consistently ranked among Sweden's best. There are challenges for freestyle skiers of all levels, from beginners looking to test their first jumps to advanced skiers looking for technically demanding features. The parks are maintained daily to ensure optimal conditions.

Kläppen is a family-friendly ski area with dedicated children's areas, professional ski schools and slopes adapted for the little ones. For cross-country enthusiasts, Kläppen offers four well-prepared trails that together make up 36 kilometres of varied terrain. These trails wind through the beautiful mountain forest and offer a perfect variation to downhill skiing or a complete experience for the dedicated cross-country skier. 

Sälen generally offers excellent snow conditions from December to April, with optimal conditions usually from mid-January to the end of March. The Swedish sports holidays (weeks 7-10) are the peak season with busy slopes and higher prices. For those with flexibility in planning, we recommend weeks 3-6 or weeks 11-14 for the perfect combination of excellent snow conditions and less crowding on the lifts and slopes.

In addition to ski equipment, your packing list should include several layers of warm clothing, waterproof outerwear, quality gloves, a hat, sunglasses with UV protection, sun cream (even in winter!), and a small backpack for day trips. By car you can easily get between the different ski resorts of Sälen on well-maintained winter roads. During the high season, there are also regular ski buses connecting the different areas.
