Gattarstugan - Large mountain cabin in Tandådalen for up to 24 guests

If you cancel more than 60 days before arrival, the rental amount will be refunded minus an administration fee of SEK 6,000. If you cancel 60 days or less before arrival, no refund will be made. We therefore strongly recommend that you have valid travel insurance that covers unforeseen events, so that you can receive compensation if something unexpected happens before or during your stay.

Gattarstugan changes the water in the hot tub after each guest and before new guests arrive.

Premium bed linen and towels, fully equipped bathrooms with hand soap and toilet paper, kitchen starter kit (dishwasher tablets, new dish brush, dishcloth, dish towels, kitchen paper) and final cleaning.

The Gattarstugan package also includes two sacks of firewood: one for the wood-burning stove in the main lounge and one for the sauna stove in the relaxation area.

The payment deadline is 10 days from the date of booking. The full rent must be paid and registered on our account before arrival, as access to the house is only given when full payment has been received.

20% of the total amount (minimum SEK 6,000) is payable when booking more than 90 days before arrival. The final payment of 80% is due at least 60 days before arrival. When booking later than 90 days before the stay, the full amount is payable directly.

The kitchen is designed for large groups. There are two dishwashers and two cookers with ovens, so you can cook and wash up for the whole group at the same time without having to wait for one another.

The fridge in the kitchen doesn’t have a freezer compartment, but there is a separate freezer in the house.

There are also two coffee machines, a microwave, a toaster and a food processor. With two coffee machines, 24 people won’t have to queue for their breakfast coffee.

In the dining room (matsalen) and the main lounge, there is a Sony sound system (DAV-DZ260) connected to the speakers in the room. It plays CDs, DVDs and the radio, but does not have Bluetooth.

To play audio from your mobile phone or computer, an audio cable with a 3.5 mm plug is already connected. Plug it in and press FUNCTION until you can hear the sound coming through the speakers. Please note that many newer phones do not have a headphone socket – in that case, bring an adapter from home, as there isn’t one here.

You can also play files from a USB stick. Insert it into the USB port on the front and press FUNCTION until ‘USB’ appears on the display.

The sound system and the TV are two separate systems. The sound from the TV always comes out of the TV’s own speakers, not the room’s.

The TV in the dining room (matsalen) and the main living room is a Voxicon smart TV.

There is no aerial connected, so you won’t be able to watch standard TV channels. You’ll watch using your own streaming accounts – Netflix, HBO, Viaplay and the like. Log in to the apps directly on the TV, just as you would at home. We do not provide any subscriptions.

If you’d prefer to show something from a computer, there’s a long HDMI cable in the large cupboard opposite the wood-burning stove, which reaches all the way to the table. Select the HDMI 1 source on the TV, otherwise nothing will happen. Many newer computers don’t have an HDMI port – bring a USB-C adapter from home if your computer needs one, as there isn’t one in the house.

The sound from the TV comes through the TV’s own speakers. If you want the sound to come through the room’s speakers, connect your computer to the sound system using a 3.5 mm cable – picture via HDMI, sound via the cable.

Yes, there’s a Toshiba projector in the large cupboard opposite the wood-burning stove.

It’s an older model and doesn’t have an HDMI input, only VGA. The long HDMI cable provided by the venue goes to the TV and therefore isn’t compatible with the projector. If you want to use it, you’ll need to bring a VGA cable, and for most modern computers, you’ll also need an adapter from USB-C or HDMI to VGA.

For most people, setting up the TV is straightforward: just connect the computer using the HDMI cable that’s already in the cupboard and select the HDMI 1 source.

Yes, there is a charcoal barbecue. It’s outside the kitchen door.

COAL AND LIGHTER FLUID ARE NOT INCLUDED
You can buy it yourselves – it’s available at petrol stations and in shops in Sälen. Do make sure to buy it on the day you plan to have a barbecue, so you don’t find out you’re missing it when the food arrives.

BARBECUE SAFELY
Place the barbecue on the ground with clear space all around it, some distance from the wall of the house. Never use it on terraces or patios, and never under a roof, balcony or overhanging eaves. Do not leave it unattended whilst it is hot.

After use: clean the grill grate, and ensure that the barbecue is completely free of ash and charcoal residue and has cooled down before putting it away.

BARBECUING INDOORS IS LIFE-THREATENING
Charcoal barbecues emit carbon monoxide, a gas that you cannot see or smell, and it is deadly. Never take the barbecue indoors, into the garden shed or into any other room – not even to let it cool down.

There is a high chair in the storeroom next to the kitchen.

Yes, you’re welcome to bring your dog to Gattarstugan.

Pets must always be declared at the time of booking and approved by us in advance. As a guest, you are responsible for leaving the property in the same good condition as on arrival, and extra thorough cleaning is required after your stay.

Pets are not permitted at events and functions held on the premises.

No. Dogs are allowed at Gattarstugan, so we cannot guarantee that the house will be free of pets. If anyone in your party has an allergy, please get in touch before booking and we’ll let you know what the situation is for your specific dates.

FOOD AND FOOD WASTE
Please use the bin outside the house. You should only put food waste and general waste in this bin, in securely sealed bags.

RECYCLING
Please take paper, cardboard, plastic, glass and tins to the Sälfjället recycling centre at Fjällskölvägen 9 – the only one in Sälen. It is located by the roundabout, on the opposite side to Circle K.

NOTHING IS LEFT BEHIND ON DEPARTURE
Please take all recyclables with you when you leave. This includes bags, bottles, tins and returnable containers. If rubbish is left inside or outside the property, an additional cleaning and handling fee of at least 2,000 SEK (excluding VAT) will be charged, as staff will then have to be called in.

It’s a good idea to take the rubbish out a day or so before you leave, so you don’t have to rush in the morning.

Our contractor clears snow from roads and car parks and spreads grit where necessary.

YOU CLEAR THE SNOW YOURSELVES AROUND THE HOUSE
The stairs, entrance halls and the path leading to the relaxation centre are your responsibility during your stay. The snow shovels are kept outside the house. Please take particular care on the path to the relaxation centre – people often walk along it in bathrobes and slippers, and it can become slippery quickly.

There are no sandpits by the house, so you’ll have to shovel away the ice rather than spread sand over it.

DO NOT STORE ANYTHING ELSE OUTSIDE
Sledges and skiing equipment must not be left outside. Heavy snowfall or the snowplough could damage them.

Check-out must take place by 10.00 am on the day of departure, unless you have booked a late check-out. This is so that the cleaning team can have the property ready for the next guests by 4.00 pm at the latest.

A full check-out checklist is available on the guest portal. You must complete and confirm this before you leave the house.

Please dispose of all recyclables in accordance with the waste disposal guidelines, and put the key back in the code box.

The house is heated by water-filled radiators. Each radiator has a thermostatic valve in the bottom corner – the white knob where the pipe meets the radiator.

IS IT TOO HOT OR TOO COLD?
Turn the valve in the room you want to adjust. Radiators respond quite quickly, but do wait a moment before turning it any further.

NEVER TURN A RADIATOR OFF COMPLETELY
A cold room in the middle of winter is what causes water pipes to freeze and burst. It’s better to turn the heating down rather than switch it off completely.

BEFORE DEPARTURE
Please return the valves to the position they were in when you arrived.

The fireplaces are a nice touch and add to the cosiness – you don’t need to light a fire to keep warm.

NO GLASS
Glass and glass bottles are prohibited in and around the hot tub. Broken glass in the water means the tub must be emptied and thoroughly cleaned – please bring drinks in containers other than glass.

CHILDREN SHOULD NEVER SWIM ALONE
Children are not allowed in the hot tub without an adult present.

SHOWER BEFORE THE BATH
It keeps the water clean for the whole group.

NO OILS OR SOAPS
Bath oils, soap, shampoo and other foaming products interfere with the treatment process and must not be used in the bath.

SNOW ON THE HOOD IS BROOMED AWAY
Always use a brush. Shovels and spades of any kind will damage the lid – they must never be used on it.

THE LID
Put the lid back on and secure it once you’ve finished your bath. It’s heavy – have a go at it together, and let it sink down rather than dropping it.

NEVER TURN OFF THE BATH
If it is switched off, the water may freeze, causing serious damage. Only use the buttons for the lighting and jets.

Bathrobes are not included in the rent, but can be hired as an additional service. Add them to your booking and they’ll be ready for you when you arrive.

Towels are, however, provided: one shower towel and one small towel per guest.
