The Seasons
Trollskogen in Hundfjället
Sälen’s most famous children’s attraction is located in Hundfjället, next to SkiStar Lodge: a one-and-a-half-kilometre ski run through the forest featuring over 800 trolls, sound and light effects, easy enough for the youngest children and accessible via the new button lift up to the Lyktan restaurant. In summer, it becomes an audio story – Valle’s troll tales via QR codes from Valle’s sheepfold up to Åke Skidor – open 18 June to 1 November, free of charge and on foot. Winter – age, price, where
- Children’s slopes and ski school: Valleberget in Lindvallen, Trollbäckstorget in Hundfjället, Valles Skidland in Tandådalen, Knattesvängen on Högfjället; SkiPass free for children aged 6 and under; Magic Mountain at Valleberget every evening from 5pm to 6pm, week 51 to 7 March. - Dog teams: Mountain adventures from Högfjället, daily from December to April at 10.00, 12.00 and 14.00, 1.5 hours; from 1,599 SEK for adults, 1,229 SEK for children up to and including 12 years old, free for under-2s. dog team

Experium in Sälen: Adventure pool with wave pool and slides, ages 0–11 accompanied by an adult, X-tube from age 6; advance booking required. Experium.
Summer – age, price, where
- Stensjön: A 3 km round trip from the top of the Gustav Express, along boardwalks and gravel paths, taking one hour – suitable for pushchairs.
- The climbing park at Svansjön, Lindvallen: nine runs and eleven cable cars across the lake; suitable for children aged 3 and over (80 cm) accompanied by an adult; blue and red runs for those between 140 and 150 cm; open daily from 18 June to 16 August and at weekends until 27 September; included in the Stora Sälen pass from 565 SEK.
- Sälen Bike Park and Trail Park: Pump track and green trails at Experiumtorget from 5 June with the Lilla SälenP pass (185 kr); lift-assisted cycling from mid-June with the Mellan pass (280 kr); helmets compulsory. How does the cycle park in Sälen work for beginners?
- Valle’s summer holidays: Weeks 26–33, featuring a show, a friends’ race and a forest disco; Valle’s Mountain Adventure, 09.30–12, for 4–9-year-olds, included in the Sälen pass.
- Fishing: Free for children up to the age of 14 with a guardian’s fishing licence; day permit 130 SEK; Lindvallen’s fishing lake for the little ones.
- Lindvallen’s mountain pasture: horses, pigs, rabbits and goats, 500 metres from Experium, in summer.

Year-round play in the Sälen mountains
Sälen has something for all ages, whatever the season. In winter, the snow is the obvious playground – here you’ll find child-friendly slopes, toboggan runs, a ski school, snowshoe walks and dog sledding. In summer, skis are swapped for walking boots, bikes and nets for catching fish in the stream. Simply running freely across a mountain meadow, picking blueberries or searching for trolls in Trollskogen creates unforgettable moments for both children and adults.
