Vasaloppet starts at Sälen, and anyone staying here avoids the morning journey to the start. Sälengodset rents out entire mountain lodges for 21–24 guests at Sälfjället, Sälfjällstorget and Tandådalen – complete with a sauna, spa and space for the whole team, family or supporters’ group under one roof.
Vasalopp Week 2027 takes place from 26 February to 7 March, with the 103rd Vasaloppet on Sunday 7 March. Accommodation is booked on a Sunday-to-Sunday basis, and demand is at its highest throughout the winter – most participants book their accommodation at the same time as they register for the race.

All the houses have fully equipped kitchens and space to dry clothes and equipment. If you’d rather not cook, we can arrange private chef, and optional extras such as cleaning, linen and bulk shopping can be added via the guest portal up until arrival.
How to book for Vasaloppet
- Please select a cottage and a week when making your booking. During Vasalopp Week, cottages are booked from Sunday to Sunday, with check-in from 4.00 pm and check-out by 10.00 am at the latest.
- If you’re taking part in the main race on Sunday 7 March and would prefer not to have to pack on the morning of the race, please get in touch and we’ll look into the possibility of a late check-out or an extra night’s stay.
- The final invoice must be paid no later than 60 days before arrival. If you book within 90 days of arrival, the full amount must be paid at the time of booking.

The race
What is Vasaloppet?
The Vasaloppet is the world's oldest, longest and largest cross-country ski race. The 90 kilometre course between Sälen and Mora is run in classic style and attracts more than 15,000 participants from all over the world every year. The race has its origins in Gustav Vasa's escape from Danish troops in 1521, an event that later became decisive for Swedish history.
The first official Vasaloppet took place in 1922 with only 119 participants. Today, the event has grown into a full week of races for all ages and abilities. Vasaloppet is more than just a ski race - it is part of Sweden's cultural heritage and a symbol of endurance, tradition and community.
For many Swedes, the Vasaloppet is a lifelong dream to complete, while international participants are attracted by the unique combination of challenge, history and beautiful scenery. Whether you are an experienced skier or a beginner, there is a race during Vasaloppsveckan that is right for you.

Tips for participants and spectators
For participants:
- Train specifically for the race at least 3 months in advance
- Test your equipment properly before the race
- Get to the start in good time - it will be crowded
- Pack energy-rich food and drinks
- Dress in layers and bring extra clothes
For spectators:

- Dress warmly - you'll be standing still for a long time

Can we live several families in the same house?

Can Vasaloppet be combined with holidays?

How far is it from the houses to the start?
Sälengodset, Fjällgodset and Olarslodgen are located near Sälfjället and Sälfjällstorget, about 10 minutes’ drive from the start at Berga by. Gattarstugan and Tandådalen are about 25 minutes away. If you’re staying in Sälen, you’ll avoid the queues on the road up from Mora on the morning of the race.
Can we book a house for the day of the race only?
No. During Vasalopp Week, the cottages are booked for a full week, from Sunday to Sunday. If you’d like to stay the night after the race, please get in touch and we’ll see what we can arrange.
