Short answer: The SkiStar lifts at Sälen open at 09.00 and close at 15.30 until 5 February, after which they close at 16.30. Selected lifts operate until 18.00 – in Lindvallen every day from 20 December; in the other areas, on certain days of the week. In the winter of 2026/27, Lindvallen will open on 4 December, Högfjället, Tandådalen and Hundfjället on 11 December, Stöten on 10 December and Kläppen on 11 December. The times below are the resorts’ published times, subject to change; weather conditions may result in individual lifts being closed.

Lindvallen opens alongside Ski Test Weekend on 3–6 December, or as soon as the snow conditions allow. Evening skiing – days and times
There are no runs after 18.00 on the SkiStar and Sälen. What is referred to as ‘evening skiing’ comprises the selected lifts that operate until 18.00 as shown in the table above, plus Magic Mountain.

Christmas, New Year, school holidays and early spring
- Christmas Eve The lifts close at 14.00 in all four SkiStar areas. On Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, normal opening hours apply – What’s happening on New Year’s Eve?.
- Holidays and weekends There are no set opening hours. The difference is that on Fridays and Saturdays the lifts are always open until 18.00, and at Lindvallen this applies every day from 20 December.
- Early spring We’ve got an extra half an hour: from 6 February, the lifts will close at 4.30 pm. The lifts won’t open any earlier in the spring, except for ‘Manchester Morning’ on Fridays – early spring in Sälen.
- The last day of the season In 2027, the event will take place on 11 April in Högfjället, Tandådalen, Hundfjället and Stöten, and on 18 April in Lindvallen. Ski & Rock and the SkiStar Winter Games, taking place from 15 to 18 April, will therefore only be held in Lindvallen.
Summer lifts and activities
During the summer, skiing is closed, but several lifts are kept open during the day for hiking and cycling. It makes it easy to reach higher trails, viewpoints and mountain bike trails without strenuous climbing. The Sälen has evolved into a year-round destination where the mountain is used as much in the barefoot season as in winter.
