The airport
Destinations and the 2026/27 season
Scandinavian Mountains Airport (airport code SCR) is situated between Sälen and Trysil and is served during the winter season. For the winter of 2026/27, SkiStar lists three routes: easyJet from London Gatwick on Saturdays from 12 December 2026 to 27 March 2027, easyJet from Manchester on Saturdays from 19 December, and SAS from London Heathrow from 12 to 14 February 2027. In previous seasons, there have also been domestic flights from Stockholm and routes from Copenhagen, Aalborg, Amsterdam, Düsseldorf and Brussels; details of which of these will return in 2026/27 can be found on the airport’s own website, and the timetable changes every season. During the summer, there are no scheduled flights – in that case, the nearest airports are Oslo Gardermoen and Arlanda, accessible by hire car.
Flights from Stockholm to Sälen
In previous winters, SAS has operated domestic flights from Stockholm to Sälen, with a flight time of around one hour compared to five to six hours by car. Check whether the flight is available for your week before counting on it; the alternative is to take the train to Mora and then a connecting bus. Transfer to the cottage
It takes 20 minutes by car from the airport to our houses. There are three options: an airport shuttle booked in advance that stops at the different areas, a taxi or private door-to-door transfer, or a hire car from the companies at the airport – if you hire a car, you can pick up groceries on the way and travel between the different areas during the week. Book your transfer or hire car at the same time as your flight during Christmas, New Year, the winter half-term and Easter. It takes just 20 minutes by car from Scandinavian Mountains Airport to Sälengodset’s holiday cottages. The distance is approximately 30–35 kilometres on well-maintained roads. During the winter season, the roads are always ploughed and passable.
How do you get from the airport?
There are several options: hire a car directly at the airport, book a pre-arranged transfer, or take a taxi. You can book a transfer through the shuttle company or a taxi firm; we’d be happy to recommend some.
Which airlines fly from Sälen?
During the winter of 2026/27, easyJet will be flying from London Gatwick and Manchester, and SAS from London Heathrow, during the winter half-term. Domestic flights from Stockholm and routes from Copenhagen and Amsterdam have been available in previous seasons – the current list can be found on the airport’s website.
Can I book accommodation and a chef directly?
