New Year in the mountains means the whole house to yourselves: the log fire, the sauna, the long table and the stroke of midnight out in the snow. We rent out entire mountain cottages accommodating 8–24 guests, for seven nights from Sunday 27 December to Sunday 3 January. The booking
Price for New Year’s week
The Christmas and New Year weeks are the most expensive of the year. The price is for the whole house and the entire period; that is what you pay, and it includes final cleaning, bed linen and towels.

The prices are the weekly rates listed on the property’s website for New Year 2026/27, as viewed on 12 October 2026; the booking function on the property’s website always displays the current price. The booking is confirmed once 20 % of the rent has been paid, within five days. The remaining 80 % must be paid no later than 60 days before arrival. If you book within 90 days of arrival, the full amount is payable at the time of booking. If you cancel more than 60 days before arrival, you will be refunded the rent minus a 6,000 kr administration fee; if you cancel closer to the arrival date, no refund will be given – please take out travel insurance. What’s included – and what costs extra
Included in all properties: The entire house, including all bedrooms, bed linen and towels, a starter pack for the kitchen and bathroom, final cleaning (you must leave the house in a tidy condition – rubbish taken out, dishwasher started) and digital check-in with access codes. Sauna, spa, locked ski storage and parking vary between the houses – see the house’s page. Firewood is included for the wood-burning stove in Gattarstugan (two sacks), Stenlodgen and Villa Åsstigen (one sack).
Not included: shampoo and toiletries, spices and foodstuffs.
Optional extras: beds made on arrival, late check-out until 12.00, early check-in, breakfast delivery, catering – see optional extras for your mountain cabin. If you would like your New Year’s Eve dinner cooked on the premises, please book the chef well in advance: private chef in Sälen.
Dog is welcome in Sälengodset, Olarslodgen and Gattarstugan – but not in the other blocks. Dog friendly accommodation in Sälen.

How to choose a house for New Year’s Eve
- Large groups. The Gattarstugan, Fjällgodset and Sälengodset can accommodate 21–24 guests. If you need more space: the Sälengodset, Fjällgodset and Winebunker, situated next to one another, can accommodate 51 people and have their own event venue.
- Spa and sauna. The Sälengodset and Fjällgodset have hot tubs both indoors and outdoors, whilst the Gattarstugan, Stenlodgen and Winebunker have outdoor hot tubs. The properties that have a sauna are listed on the property page.
- A small group. The Skiers Lodge (8), Villa Åsstigen (12) and Stenlodgen (15) are also only available for hire as a complete set.
New Year’s week 2026/27 runs from Sunday 27 December to Sunday 3 January in all properties; special arrival dates and minimum stay requirements apply for Christmas and New Year – see the booking calendar on the property page. Location and proximity - why it matters at New Year
During the peak season, every minute counts. Here’s how the houses are situated in relation to the slope:
- Skis by the door: The Skiers Lodge and Lindvallen – ski-in, ski-out; you can head straight out onto the slopes from the house.
- Walking distance to the ski lift and restaurants: Stenlodgen at Sälfjällstorget, next to Olarslodgen at Sälfjällstorget; Olarslodgen at Sälfjällstorget, within walking distance of the ski lifts, restaurants and nightlife; Gattarstugan at Tandådalen, within walking distance of the slopes.
- Car or ski bus to the slopes: Villa Åsstigen has the cross-country ski trail right outside the door and the ski bus a couple of hundred metres away, but it’s a five-minute drive to the slopes at Tandådalen and Hundfjället. Sälengodset and Fjällgodset are situated at Gamla Sälfjällstangen, facing south towards Högfjällsbacken.

Is it possible to hire a holiday cottage over New Year for fewer than eight people? The houses are always let as a whole. A smaller group can rent an entire house – the price remains the same. The smallest is The Skiers Lodge, which sleeps eight.
