A New Year’s Eve party in the mountains means you’ll have the whole house to yourselves: the long table, the log fire, the sauna and the terrace at the stroke of midnight. The chef comes from one of our partners at Sälen – we’ll put you in touch, and you bring your guests. Here’s what a New Year’s celebration with us looks like, how much it costs and how to book it.

Why the mountains?
Here’s what the New Year’s programme looks like
- The house – one of our mountain chalets for 8–24 guests, New Year’s week from Sunday 27 December to Sunday 3 January, book at Rent a cottage in Sälen over New Year.
- The evening – Magic Mountain is lit up on Lindvallen 17–18, the lifts are running to their usual timetable, and you can see the clock strike midnight on the terrace or out in the snow.
The chef: a private chef from one of our partners will prepare the New Year’s Eve dinner in the house’s kitchen. There is no set menu: you and the chef will decide together on the number of courses, ingredients and drinks, based on the number of guests, any allergies and what you’d like to celebrate. More about how it works: private chef in Sälen. The day after: New Year’s Day on the slopes with the usual lift opening hours, or in the sauna; a late breakfast can be ordered as breakfast delivery.
Price – how much does a New Year’s Eve party with a chef cost?
The house: New Year’s week costs from 62,250 SEK (Villa Åsstigen, 12 guests) to 134,200 SEK (The Skiers Lodge, 8 guests), the whole house for seven nights – all eight houses priced at Rent a cottage in Sälen over New Year. The chef’s fee is set by our partner on a per-party basis, depending on the menu and the number of guests – you’ll receive a quote from the chef once you’ve let us know how many of you there are and what you’d like to eat. Please let us know when you book the house and we’ll put you in touch, well in advance of Christmas – New Year’s Eve is the chefs’ busiest night.
